Overview

It’s the Labor Day weekend of 1959, and the last time between summer and autumn that four best buds – Gordie, Chris, Teddy and Vern – have together before they embark on the next chapter of their lives, junior high. Hearsay in the town gives the boys a lead about the location of the dead body of a local boy whose recent disappearance has been widely covered in the news. Hoping to become town heroes by finding the boy’s body, the four pals set off on an adventure. Along the way, they must navigate a mean dog, wild coyotes, a couple of trains, leeches, and the Cobra gang led by the cruel Ace (Kiefer Sutherland).

Why You Should See This Film

This is the ultimate coming-of-age film and will always manage to evoke a particular nostalgia no matter how many generations have come and gone since its release. If you’ve seen it before, you’ll love revisiting all those classic scenes and memorable lines – the train track scene, the leeches, the blueberry pie-eating contest, the campfire banter (“Cherry-flavour Pez. No question about it.”). Don’t blame us if the urge to sling a rucksack over your back, slip on your Chuck Taylors and head off on an adventure of your own becomes just too hard to resist.
